Some changes to rules and punishments
#1
Hello LVP management. I'm posting this today because I think there needs to be some changes in punishments. Some admins extend ban dates longer than they should be. They also ban people that should have received a less serious punishment. I'll provide some examples below:

first off:

Alright, I realize Greyfox has a poor attitude, so don't even bring that up. Moderator Chevy extended his ban from the normal 3 day ban for bug abuse to 7, all because he was banned in the past for it. Never has this happened on LVP. I believe the guidelines are Bug Abuse = 3 day ban.

shoebox banned for caps. I mean c'mon, are you kidding me? There's a number of things you could have done to handle this, such as a permanent mute until he says in admin chat he will stop, in lower case text.

I also would like to see bug abuse allowed in different worlds under these circumstances:
a.) you do not teach people bugs
b.) both players must agree to fight with bugs
c.) bug abuse in /world 0 will not be tolerated, the excuse "i thought i was in another world" will not be valid

I personally could not see the harm in this, better in a private area than /world 0.

Also lately there has been bans handed out for shooting at the ship or nading it. It states clearly that if you are to attack the ship in anyway you will be jailed. Admins/mods have been banning players for throwing a nade or 2 at the ship, which is rather harsh. Maybe a kick for nading the ship is more reasonable, but still.. banning is too much.

Basically I think the guidelines should be more clear.

example:

Bug abuse = 2-3 days ban
Flaming = 2-3min mute
Excessive flaming = 2-3 day ban.
CAPS = 1 minute mute (1 minute because I believe this is the rule that can be broken and be the most harmless)
/taxi abuse, /world abuse, /tp abuse = Kick, if repeated: 1 day ban
Cheating = perm ban
Crashing plane into ship = First jail, kick, then 1 day ban
Ruining cruises = 2-3 day ban
Ship shooting/killing = 2 minute jail
Ship nading = 5 minute jail

If you do have other recommendations, please state them.

Thanks for reading, hope you take it into consideration.

Please explain your votes.

I thought this was in the CSI so i didn't even think to post :P

I do like your idea here. I think ground rules should be implied, however, I don't agree with some of your punishment times. But that can be changed.

i thought it would be nice to have the ban times there, so things wont be considered admin abuse as much, such as extending ban periods to extreme times. though, I think management status people should be allowed to extend bans.

Besides the ban lengths being extended if the player has done something over and over again, I think this is a great idea, HaZe. You've got my vote. :)

I think that admins shouldn't selectively enforce rules.

Meaning that you disagree with the bug abuse in the other worlds? Or?
#8
it'd be nice if you were a bit more open minded.

I agree with every point you made HaZe (although ruining cruises should warrant a jail/kick first)

Another few points:
1. People get banned for bug abuse. USING bugs in other worlds shooting at mates is not ABUSING the bugs, but just USING them.
Oh, and the person who rebuts this point by saying "duhh... does that mean cheats are okay in other worlds too? they're not ABUSING the cheats, just USING them" is a complete whack-job, just saying that now.

2. Flaming consequences really need to be dealt with equally. I'd see deguz muting GTA_Rules for ~5 minutes for calling someone a  "prick" after interrupting an fc fight, but you'd have a good deal of [sK] [RT] or [BB] members (and the occasional DFL, SaW or other person) using incredibly harsh language constantly, but they don't even a warning.
Warn/mute/kick before banning, guys.

3. Banning for CAPS? Unless anyone constantly spams admin chat with caps, its a mute/perm mute or last warning, kick.

Treat everyone like they're a [W] and the place will be clean in no time.

P.S No_M3rcy supposedly quit, resulting in a 15% decrease in the LVP flame-rate.
Congratulations.

Not much time right now, but, from the guidelines:

Quote:These periods can be doubled when someone does it again.
