I agree that punks are certainly different than emos.
Punks are slightly less demented.

Emo's :
Emos are a group of people that are similar to goths,
they wear alot of black, tight jeans and a tight usually
black hooded zipped jumper. they listen to alot of pop punk and gothic music

Punks :
Punks usually dress in ripped clothing and many patterned materials are symbolic of the punk revolution suchas;
tartan, leopard print, zebra print and also checks.
