meh, this happened to me often too, when I installed a sound mod, but when I removed it, it worked correctly without crashes...
Also make sure your copy is original, not a modded one (like the one i bought for 1 buck >.>) when I had a fake copy (modded one) of San andreas it kept crashing like every 15 minutes.. so i just removed it and installed the original one....
