I had those concerns too, but in the FAQ it said there shouldn't be any problems when you use other electrical devices. After all, it's designed to work with other devices which require an Internet connection.

Appliances like kettle, oven, washing machine - I'm not sure. I better get back to reading some more reviews...
I would have thought the technology would have came on a fare but after 10 years of products like this being on the market.
