It's not about stopping the money Cowell and Sony make, it's simply a way to rebel against getting fed "that schmaltzy crap" (-Morello) all the time and to get some decent music into the charts.
Although they'll make more money, they'll lose some of their strength of image- and at that stage of being rich, the image usually counts far more than the money, as they are directly linked to each other.
