While I applaud Rockstar for re-introducing MP to the GTA series, I find IV MP is pretty boring. The single player was great, I just found the MP to fall bellow Rockstar standards as it tries nothing really "new" and just gives us modes that have come to be expected of most online shooters (albeit with other modes that fit in with GTA 4 mechanics, for example racing). The whole TDM and DM have been done to death, the warzone type mode also been done a million times, all Rockstar did was half ass its MP. That's why I still find SAMP more enjoyable, since it offers a variety of playing styles from RP, to clan based matches, not limiting itself by the run of the mill shooter modes to grab the casual player.
