If there is no "stronger" card than a SLI with two "small" cards, then you have to choose SLI/Crossfire, ye. But i meant, if you have the option between in example  2 8600GTS for 110€  or a 9800GTX for 120 or a HD 4850 for 130, so you would never choose the SLI with the lower cards  ;)

PS: If you want to play on 1900x1200 with AA and AF, you'll need crossfire/sli, your right.
