Never buy SLI with so small cards like the 8600GT. Because you will need a nForce mainboard from nvidia, which suck.

Intel boards are the best (P35, P45, X38, X48)!

btw: The GTX 280 from NVidia is available for 330€ now, (at release date: 500€)

And you know the problems with SLI? Needs more power(watt), AND ITS NOT 200% of one card.  It depends on the game. Sometimes its +30%, sometimes its +80%, sometimes its -5%.

A single, stronger card is better in every case.
