If bananas are in season and you're not buying some fancy organic ones then they shouldn't be more than $2.50-$3.50 a kilo.
It's certainly not sunny all day in Melbourne, in the last week we've had days that were 28-34, and days where it's hailed or rained so much that it's hard to drive.

Bananas were only expensive when we "ran out" and had a shortage so they imported some from Asia and charged a lot for them.

Most the "creepy crawlies" won't touch you unless you touch them or attack there nests and stuff.

The weather is Melbourne in whack! One minute (as I type) its beautiful and sunny! But the next it could be pissing down with rain.

Hah yeah I love the misconception that Australia is absolutely crawling with dangerous animals.
I suppose it is, but you don't see too many when you live in the suburbs or anywhere within half an hour of the city (aside from the brown snake I saw that one time, in a nature reserve 5-10 minutes north of Melbourne). It's just that the most popular Australian tv show on an international scale was probably Steve Irwin's, which shows him nowhere near civilization wrestling crocs and alligators.
The worst you're likely to see in Australia are white-tail or (rarely) redback spiders. No snakes unless you're a farmer or live way outside of any city.

Oh yeah, I forgot about box jellyfish at certain beaches.
You don't really find them in Melbourne beaches, but they are incredibly deadly. Best just to stay indoors and play video games, pretty beach bitches are just asking for death!
