arsenal's defence infact is pretty good with Vermaelen&Mertesacker and Gibbs ( who played very well ) and sagna
I don't think it's the names that are the problem, it's the fact that they lack the confidence and ambition and they aren't enjoying their football. They also need to feel part of a team. Just look at City, until this season they were just 11 "world class" players, they were just a bunch of individuals out for themselves and they weren't a team, and so didn't achieve much. Now they're more of a team they're now title contenders.
Liverpool went from finishing 2nd and beating Real Madrid 4-0 (5-0 on AGG) in the Champions League and beating Man U 4-1 at Old Trafford and only losing 2 games in the whole season in 08/09 to begging to finish in a Europa League qualifying place in 09/10 while still keeping near enough the same team. We lost Sami Hyypia and Xabi Alonso which was a blow and Torres became injury prone but we weren't that much different yet we were losing all the time and getting silly draws.
From what I've seen of Arsenal when watching them play they don't look happy. In the Blackburn game I didn't see them fighting for the ball. Even when an unfair decision went against them they didn't really fight for it like other teams would. When Liverpool were everyone's favourite teams to play (due to being easy 3 points) their main problem was their confidence, lack of ambition and not wanting to play.
However their biggest problem of them all is not Wenger or confidence, it's the medical staff. Players seem to be getting injured more easily and are taking some time to get healed when they'd be back playing sooner at other clubs. Another problem may be Wenger losing the dressing room. That happened to Rafa during his last season...and Roy Hodgson never got the dressing room.
Speaking of Hodgson, here's a video from the legendary Darren Farley (really, the man's a genius) and Paul Machin from TheRedmen TV (also funny).
It's about what Liverpool would be like if Hodgson was still manager.
What if Hodgson Stayed as Liverpool Manager? (The Redmen TV.com)

Oops, did I hit a nerve right there? Dude, we're Chelsea. I mean it's not like 50 millions is much to a billionaire, so yeah, it doesn't even matter if he sucks - he's just gonna get sold to another club if he doesn't show what he's capable of. That was one of my points in my previous posts: just like Manchester City, money isn't of any value to Chelsea. If 50 million is something other clubs look up to as a huuuuuge price it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference to Chelsea.
If we're gonna sell him he'll probably go to a club like Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Anzhi etc. (clubs that get players who are quite below their top form).

the price doesn't matter, the quality of the player bought does. I mean, look at barcelona: they bought Sanchez, 21 yo, still has to grow and get better and still he's a beast now. 40 millions. Chelsea bought Torres, about 27 yo, he's a formed player already, he sucks major balls. 50 millions.
Abramovich could have bought Sanchez with 40 mils and with that 10 mils difference, he could have bought 100 porsche and crashed them on sir Alex Ferguson's manor while yelling "19 my ass, you motherfucker" just because he can.
Just kidding, prolly Abramovich's talent scouts are just a bit obnubilated by petrol fumes...

What are you even trying to say? We gave 50 million pounds for nothing? Yeah, pretty much.
We should be pissed at ourselves for the badly-spent money? Nope, there's more where that came from so it's not a big deal. Like I said, he's just gonna get released if he continues like this.
It's not like Inter can release a player and magically beat Napoli 3:0, right? oll:

i didn't say money doesn't count, I said that money and quality should go well together, so there should be no worries about giving out a lot of money when you actually spend them for someone who is worth spending for.
I don't think Abramovich's thoughts while he was about to buy Torres were: "oh hell yeah I'm a billionaire, let's buy this utter shit player for 50 millions, put Drogba in a corner and have a laugh about it". There is quite a difference between being rich and being retarded.
Anyway, it's not like you can release him and win epl right? Nothing to worry about then pal

Ha! Well, when we bought him from Liverpool he wasn't anything near shit. Guess we just ruined him or he was ruined right before we bought him. Problem was Drogba wasn't doing that good so we needed a better striker and Torres looked like the perfect player for that position yet...
"Anyway, it's not like you can release him and win epl right?" - we might just do since he's the fault for most of our losses cause he can't score(reference: Chelsea vs Man U, missing a 100% goal).
