yeah they're rooted in metalcore but their sound branches off into progressive metal for the most part (on their newer stuff). I personally enjoy the metalcore/death metal aspects - it makes it interesting. If they wanted to just play just plain prog metal I'm sure they could but they like to experiment

I was enjoying it up to roughly 2:04 where it got all metalcore and really stopped appealing to me.
Still, there are far worse bands out there.
