It certainly was overblown.
Thousands more die of the regular flu per year than they did with the swine flu- the thing that made swine flu a big deal was that it was incredibly easy to catch, however it was actually less potent than the regular flu.
Typically, if a lot of poorer people in Mexico or China were to catch it, then they may not have the immunity system to handle it.
