Las Venturas Playground UI (User interface)
#1
Alright I just want to ask the LVP players a simple question...

Would it be nicer to have an updated interface, in future updates?

After really noticing, the LVP interface seems 'dated' or not very 'noob' friendly, as you can tell it's just a mixed up mess of commands and unseen rules lurking in LVP.

If you do not know what I mean by UI, I'm talking about things such as commands, they're all mixed up, some are not used anymore and it kinda needs to be cleaned up and organize, maybe a menu that comes up when you type "/cmds". The menu in speaking showing the category the command lies in, such as the gang commands for example, maybe when you type '/gangs' it will bring up a menu of gang commands, rather than giving a long list that you must retype if it goes up the page from random chat; of course "Page up" is the solution to that. but wouldn't it be easier to have a menu showing things such as |Gang Bank> Deposit> "Type amount here" or maybe |Gang Color> "Color list here".

Also, another thing are the rules, Maybe instead of having the bots or a timed delay to spam messages constantly in the main chat, possibly have a 3d text draw in the corner that can be toggled on and off (or not!  :D) that will announce accurate up to date rules and updates (as dev has been doing recently to show the due date for the next updates). Also maybe, show more accurate rules for newer players who do not understand the details of the ship policies and such, that is not shown in the announcements today.

Anyways, this is just an idea I wanted to take publicly, this is a bit of a serious thread for mature discussion on things relevant to the thread itself, so DO NOT flame towards other members of the forum! This topic is here for a public opinion as some members have wanted before, not for you to spam!

Would this be a nice way to kick off 2011? Please leave a vote on what you think in the poll above.

Commands should be easier to use for new people that come to the server. If the commands are easy to remember and use, they would most likely to invite there friends or just stay with the server even more.

We could better start re-writing the source then.

Yeah, I already knew when thinking about it-it did not sound like an easy thing to do at all, but it is possible to keep the old command interface along with a new one, for the people who prefer typing it out.

It would be easier to make, because yeah it would not involve shredding up the entire source, and also the people who prefer typing the commands would be more happy.

Also, I was not referring to this being in the next update or two, maybe some time in the future.

Could be useful for people who just join and leave.

I think all the '/my ...' commands are quit good. Easy and clear. But a menu with all the commands of the same kind grouped, would be very usefull. A lot of other servers got something similar.

This is an excellent idea. The way I see it, the User Interface could be one of the most important elements to a successful server. Not that I have any experience in this, but it is the way I see it. If a new player joins the server, and doesn't know how to use all of the great features LVP has to offer, what good are they? Especially with the new gang system, things can get confusing. If we want to attract new players, maybe an intuitive system like you are suggesting could be beneficial to get players to keep coming back. If we make it easier for someone that just joined the server to learn how to take advantage of the gamemode, they might just stick around long enough to become a victim of the LVP addiction :P

jaw, and I have been noticed LVP is more laggy for me, since new updates.
I got shitty PC, but not so bad actually.
Don't know does my words count with this situation or not, but I think LVP needs be more lag-free, even for those who are playing with shitty PC's.

Most lag is client related, I don't think a command menu would do anything to effect your FPS or ping.
