Okay, ever since I tryed out the new steam, it restarted and then said 'updating steam'. And that was it, it didn't go up, I waited for hours and it still didn't go up.

Any ideas?

If something small like Steam isn't working, try restarting and if not just re-install. Only takes a few min to do.

redownloading all your games takes some time though..

you can easily save all of them

FILE > CREATE GAME BACKUP > choose the game

then, after reinstalling steam, just doubleclick the backup file
