Johnny Red's meant for mixing more than drinking straight, IMO.
You don't mix proper whiskies, and drinking a cheap one can be distasteful (as you said earlier).
Honestly I prefer scotch whiskies, I'm not a fan of bourbon (though I can't say I really dislike it, I just don't drink it because there are drinks more akin to my taste out there).

Bushmills is a more expensive one, can't say how it tastes though.
Solid_Rock, you should try Johnny Walker Blue, and tell us your thoughts.

Dunno why so many people are hating on Glennfiddich, the 18yo one for 35€ is very good for its price. Still too much for me, tho

JD is just the best for its price (17,90€ here)

It's a Glenfiddich 12 yrs Caoran Reserve. It's a little more expensive (bout 5 euro's I thought) than the regular 12 yrs, but it is really worth it. Way more smokey and a stronger taste.

Do you drink your whiskeys often? I barely drink it... maybe once a month or so.. i drank lots of it the last few weeks but thats not a "permanent" thing.. usually i just drink beer and some (white) rum.  It would take ages for me to drink all the whiskys you have in your cupboard there.

PS: And with what do you mix your Ballantines? All i know is whisky with coca cola.. for which usually bourbon whiskey is used (jd no.7 )
