You might have already noticed that I enjoy a good whisky. So I wanted to create a topic where we all can discuss whisky or maybe other liquor. Myself, I like single malt Scotch whisky, although there's a lot of difference between all of them.
-Updated-
I've made a short list of whisky which are worth trying. I'll try to keep the list updated for both beginners and lovers. The whisky's are sorted out by price.
Under €20,-
Under 20 euro's there aren't very good whisky's, I haven't tried a lot under €20, most of them I've had aren't any good. Just for people who like to try their first whisky, here are a couple which are worth trying. Don't buy anything else: most of it is crap.
- Jameson - a very good one for in Irish Coffee, isn't too bad to drink with 1-2 icecubes either.
- Ballantines - only for mixing. It has a strong, rough taste which is good to mix with cola, but not to drink on it's own.
- Islay Mist - Comes from the Laphroaig distillery, and is worth trying for it's money.
€20-€30
A little more expensive, but a _lot_ better.
- Bowmore Legend - A very nice whisky. It has a rich taste with a lot of flavours. Also in it's after taste where a little bit of 'smoke' comes in. Maybe a bit too strong and smokey for the beginner.
- Jack Daniels - Good one for starters. A real bourbon whiskey. Rich, but 'flat' taste. Not very special, but more like one which is good for every occasion.
- Glen Moray 12 - A whisky with a very soft taste. It'a good one for the variation, wouldn't buy it if I had to choose just one.
- Johnny Walker Black Label - One of the best blended whisky's. Has a smooth and 'round' taste. The after taste is very smokey for a blend. Good one to enjoy, but also quite good for a starter. I always got this one.
- Glenfiddich 12 - Good one to start with, although maybe a little smokey and peaty. A good taste with all the essential whisky flavours.
Over €30
- Bowmore 12 - Same kind of taste as the Bowmore Legend, but richer and softer. One of my favorites!
- Caol Ila - You gotta love it though. I very, very strong and smokey taste, but a very good one. It has an alcohol percentage of around 60%. Drink it with 2-3 icecubes and enjoy!
- Compass Box, The Peat Monster - This is my favorite I've had so far. Complicated taste, rich, smokey and ofcourse: a lot of peat. Really one for the whsikylover.
- Highlad Park 12 - Smooth and rich at the same time. Not too smokey, so an easy accessible whisky; for lover and starter.
For the starters
- Jack Daniels
- Johnny Walker Black Label
- Glenfiddich 12
- Glenlivet 12
- Jameson
I'll edit it if I think of something more or when I changed my mind
