On the state of LVP DMing... Is more fun possible?
#1
Let's say you enjoy DM... This is how it pans out in my view. There's an elite who are the most skilled, and always group together. Who? sLK, SaW, BA, etc... and various clanless people who are obviously their friends. Then there's the decent fighting clans, who sometimes group with the elite but many times just end up fighting everyone. Who? S2K, HC4L, etc... And then there's the nooby clans and randoms who everyone kills indiscriminately.

What's the problem in this picture? When you're grouping with the elite group its not much fun because there's no real challenge. When your one of the "decent" clans fighting against the "elite" group you don't really stand a chance and getting killed over and over gets old fast. And when you're a random... same really.

When is LVP fun? When the numbers are more or less even then its hella fun. 3 v 3, 4 v 4, etc... But that RARELY hapens because the elite are very active and they always group together in larger numbers than any opposition, and essentially camp the ship.

And no this isn't a whine. This post is actually inspired after grouping with the better fighters today and finding it kinda... dull (more dull than getting gang banged actually xD ). So its not a "OMG HOW UNFAIR!1" whine and rage post... ¬.¬

How can we make things more fun for LVP DM as a community? I have a proposal: instead of the best clans grouping together all the time, how about you never group unless the person is in your clan, or is an official ally? That way we will get more of the rare well balanced fights that are much more fun than the usual gank fests.

Or perhaps the script could be changed to make grouping more balanced somehow?

I know this probably won't happen, and that I'm barking at thin air, and I guess I'm likely to get flamed/ridiculed for it, but I thought I'd give it a shot and put it out there. You never know, people might actually do it, or at least the discussion might help to change grouping attitudes a little.

Thanks for your attention. Sincerely, Ph03n1x.

EDIT: Thread has run its course imo. It seems things are the way they are because people want it that way. So no change needed. Good stuff.

Its not possible to stop clans from helping eachother, doesn't matter if they in their /gang or not, just helping them shoot people can't be stopped, plus not exactly a good idea by stopping someone to possibly wanting to play with his friend who is in a clan.

Hmm, you might well be right. I can't think of any great solution. Perhaps someone else can though.

Or perhaps because people naturally make friends in LVP through spending a lot of time together means that the only answer for some fun fighting is server raiding as is planned in another thread.

EDIT: or maybe I need to play another server where fighting is less stifled and more free.

the si called "skilled" and old clans arent grouping because they are good, they do because they like each other and maybe share a long history together in samp.

Didn't HC4L beat BA 4-1 in an "unofficial" war a couple of weeks ago?
They were kicking their asses (and SaW) for a few months in a row- I'd say your view on the strength of clans is rather warped.

Anyway, clans get good by fighting the best- sure it's gonna be tough at the start but your skills will grow faster than that of the stronger or elite fighters.
People also have the right to choose their allies and choose their enemies, which makes this a pretty much open and shut case.

It's not about it being tough. If you read my post properly you'd understand what I mean...

But I'll repeat the argument: if you DO group with the Elite group you'll be bored because there's no challenge, no fights. If you don't then you'll have more fun, but still get bored quickly after you realise you'll always be on the right hand side of the killboard.

What we WANT is balanced grouping because that is much more fun than unbalanced grouping. But unfortunately that seems to be very rare because of the way things work in LVP.

Well, hanging out with the old "elite" people and friends is way more fun than SAMP gameplay could be, if you understand what i mean.

Yes, and if you want to fight the 'elite' friends, there's FC for that, or just friendly duels, or friendly CW. For example, UvH and MOB should have a war in a month or so, and we're allied.

Fair enough. It seems people are happy with the way things are. It seems its the way it is because that's what people want. No change needed. Good stuff.

Oh please. That "unofficial" war was for fun and we (BA - Yes i'm not in BA, but at the time i was) didn't have our best lineup, but HC4L did.
