(Reason i ask is because there are more similar HP pc's but they are more expensive (+250 euro) and i dont know why that is....)

I love that laptop.
We sell them like cheap cookies who taste very well in our store. The only downside of it could be it's design, but i like this mechanical look.

I got a dv5 with vista and a friend of mine a dv6 with windows 7. Both are very unreliable:
- My screen broke twice and had to be replaced.
- I had to reïnstall mine twice because a lot of the hardware drivers didn't load anymore
- His battery and power-cable broke (not due to overpower at the net)
- Both have sound issues (sound doesn't work often and you have to restart the pc several times)
- Both wireless modems are slow and loose connection very often.
So if the dv7 is as bad as the previous versions: don't buy it.

Gimme more specs solidrock. The dv-7 isn't based on the dv5...
But still. I know about these complaints. But they are a more reliable then the others brands. Ofcourse dell does a great job too. Dell has some prefixed models too. Some stores sell prefixed dell models. Not an advertising because i work there. It's just for some cash that i work there....nothing more.

I got that laptop, I bought it back in 2008 for €1100 in Morocco.
And mine got less better specs. So for that price, just go for it !

And yes it is a HP Pavillion dv7 as well.

And if it isn't based on the dv5, forget what I said. But I still think HP laptops aren't very good. My former Acer was way better.

This is the first Laptop Based on Intel’s Sandy Bridge Processor. But the rest may come from a dv5.....
Problem is Dell hasnt got a lot of 17 inch screens and when it does it has a 3GB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 445M GT grafic card and costs like 500,- more....

That's the problem. That's your experience. Nothing to blame you. If i am giving advice to people.
Mister 1 says: "My HP is great, got one acer last year and it broke down twice"
Mister 2 says: "HP sucks, got two hp's one broke down and the other had to be replaced two times, the acer i got now is great"
Mister 3 says: "Packard Bell = the bomb. It rocks every brand. HP sucks, Acer sucks.
etc.....
People base their thoughts about brands on personal experiences. I see wha has to be repaired in our store and see a lot of other numbers from different stores.
Acer is far above the other brands. But that is partly because of their bad aftermarket service. They screw up the orders of the laptops that needs to be repaired. Several times we got laptops back with private information on it, from another person.
HP is far more superiour, the amount of laptops brought in are way less then acer/packard bell.
But i bought a HP in december 2010 and the battery broke down in one week. Just bad luck. And not to mention , every single hardware device is as reliable as your piece is. 2000 hp's could be the best, but you could be unlucky and get a faulty one.
