Upgrading... Help! - Phyc0 - 07-15-2009 Hey, I'm thinking about upgrading my PC so I'm prepared for Windows 7 and so I can play high-resolution games which I can't play at the moment... Here's my current system spec (Don't laugh at it ): CPU Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2.80GHz CPU Speed 2.80 GHz Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 32-bit (Build Service Pack 16001) Video card NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE (GeForce 7500 LE), 256 RAM, DirectX Version 10.0 Sound Card Speakers (Realtek High Definition) DVD drive LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S ATA Device (This doesn't work at all.. ) So I guess it's probably a better idea to buy a whole new PC... or? Greetz, Phyc0 Re: Upgrading... Help! - FarePak - 07-15-2009 Probably better off getting a new computer altogether. Because I would upgrade CPU, Graphics Card, RAM, Motherboard. Which is basicly the whole computer. Re: Upgrading... Help! - cloakster - 07-15-2009 Yep, it'll be worth it to just build a whole new comp. Re: Upgrading... If so, what do you recommend? Don't worry about budget xD Re: Upgrading... Help! - FarePak - 07-15-2009 One of the new AMD Phenom II's or one of the Intel i7's, personally I would go for AMD but its up to you. For the graphics card, it kinda depends on budget, if you got a huge budget you can get something like GTX 285/295 or HD 4870x2/4890. Re: Upgrading... Help! - Hitman - 07-15-2009 Intel Core i7 920 ~220€ Asus P6T SE mainboard ~ 140€ 6GB (3x 2GB) OCZ Platinum Low Voltage (DDR3-1600 CL7) ~75€ Case: Antec Nine Hundred ~70€ Windows 7 Home Premium ~ 50€ GeForce GTX 285 2GB ~240€ ^ my recommendation.. Re: Upgrading... Help! - FarePak - 07-15-2009 CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 ( $210.00 ) Motherboard: Asus Crosshair III Formula ( $199.99 ) / Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P ( $179.99 ) Graphics Card: XFX HD 4870x2 ( $369.99 ) RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB ( $89.99 ) PSU: Corsair 750w ( $119.49 ) Or anything similar Case: Whatever you fancy ^ My Recommendation Re: Upgrading... Help! - cloakster - 07-15-2009 I'd go with the Core i7. AMD has to come out with something big before I start recommending them again. Re: Upgrading...
