OpenTTD - Chillosophy - 07-01-2009 Quote:OpenTTD is an open source game engine for the Chris Sawyer game Transport Tycoon Deluxe. In short: OpenTTD is an awesome remake of the classic '94/'95 Transport Tycoon Deluxe game. It's all about transporting cargo and passengers, building great networks and improving your company. It was great back then, but a little limited (ofcourse nobody realised that on their 486 computers ). OpenTTD brings a whole bunch of new features:
Over the last years OpenTTD has improved a lot. I started playing from 0.5.3, which could be a pain in the ass on multiplayer. From 0.6.0 and onwards (currently at 0.7.1) multiplayer is really stable. Games lasts for hours without ever getting a sync error. Customization is easier than ever, with the ingame content download feature you can download new graphics for about everything; vehicles, stations, scenery, etc. I know there is or was an LVP server, but I'm curious who else plays this game. We could have some organized multiplayer games with LVP players, all starting at the same time and playing for a few hours. It could be a competition, we could coorperate, or just a mix of everything. Every company can have lots of players in it, so the number of players is not really an issue if there's a good host. Screens: The last two screenshots show off new 32bpp graphics with extra zoom levels. All old graphics are 8bpp (256 colors), this means there's a lot more quality and detail possible. Re: OpenTTD - Erin - 07-01-2009 Actually it reminds me of sim city 2000. Re: OpenTTD - thePiet - 07-01-2009 I've been playing this game for a while, and it rocksĀ . It costs some time to get to know the game, how signalling works to route your trains and stuff, but it's very cool when you've learned everything. http://wiki.openttd.org/Main_Page has helped me a lot! Edit: I'm still looking for a nice 32bpp graphics pack or something. Any suggestions? Re: OpenTTD - Rien - 07-01-2009 This game rocks! ;D Re: OpenTTD - Chillosophy - 07-01-2009 (07-01-2009, 03:30 PM)thePiet link Wrote: Edit: I'm still looking for a nice 32bpp graphics pack or something. Any suggestions? I think this is the latest, April 2009. Or perhaps this one. Haven't checked it myself, but I will asap I don't think it's a problem if you install them both.
