[C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - TEF - 05-31-2009

First off, let me just say that LVP 2.9x has horrible vehicles compared with previous versions of the game mode. Why replace decent vehicles with crap? I understand that the development team may not like replacing vehicles (as I imagine it takes a hell of a long time), but as a frequent driver on Las Venturas Playground, well, my options are limited with this new selection of vehicles.

Let's begin, shall we?

Here's the current list of utter crap vehicles that serve absolutely no purpose within the server. Well, besides causing the annoying thought of the fact that there could be better replacements. The list includes the names of the vehicles in link format, so just click the type if you want to see an image of it.

Okay, so right now I'm fairly certain developers and players alike are wondering why the hell I listed so many vehicles. I'm even more certain that you all are definitely saying to yourselves that there's absolutely no way all of these vehicles can be useless. Well, I don't waste my time posting for nothing, so let's get going on explaining why each of these vehicles suck and what their potential replacement should be.

First up is the Merit. This is going to be a very popular reasoning of mine, but: What purpose does this car serve? Seriously. I suggest replacing this slow-ass piece of shit with the beloved Comet. The Comet used to be in LVP, but was removed. Let's bring it back.

Next is the Tampa. Oh, my God! This is the definition of the word "garbage," yet it's in the game. Not only is it in the server, but it's the most popular car! There are exactly twenty-two Tampas in LVP, and my source for this statement is "/stats." Seriously, this car is crap. I strongly recommend replacing the Tampa with the Buffalo. The Buffalo appeared in a couple locations in the previous game modes, but now it's gone. I miss this great muscle car.

Here comes the shitty duo of the BF-400 and FCR-900. These two motorcycles couldn't be more useless. We already have the great speed of the NRG-500 and the beloved beauty of the Freeway, so my suggestion is simply to remove these two pieces of crap. I don't think we need any replacement for them, but I'd suggest spawning either the NRG-500 or Freeway in their place. (That way it all works out and there's no bitching about how there's no vehicles anywhere.)

We're up to the Euros. Where did this car come from? I don't remember seeing it in the previous game modes, and I absolutely hated it in the singleplayer. I could never find the piece of shit when I needed to export it, so every time I look at it I am reminded of this very traumatic experience. I would like to see the Euros replaced with the luxurious Stretch. The Stretch was spawned in just two locations last time around, but it was a common sight among the gang members and cruisers. I think we would all love to see its return, especially in place of the utter junk that is the Euros.

It's time for the Enforcer. The Enforcer is one of four different police vehicles (Las Venturas Police, HPV-1000, Ranger, and Enforcer) on Las Venturas Playground, and—as far as I know—it only spawns in one location: Las Venturas Airport. How useless is that? I understand we're trying to appeal to every type of player here (i.e. role players, fighters, freestylers, stunters), but why have four different types of police vehicle? I don't even want to hear the "transporting a prisoner" excuse. I recommend replacing the Enforcer with the Patriot. The Patriot was so great that there was one locked in Area 69, reserved for administrators only. Yeah, it was that good. Now where is it? I miss off-roading with the NOS-ready and easy to handle Patriot, so let's bring it back.

Time for the Baggage Handler. You know, this vehicle is exactly like the Tampa. How? Because it's just as moronically asinine. Why do we need this vehicle? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but was the Baggage Handler even in any previous versions of LVP? If not, that means it was added in and replaced another vehicle. (It could have been just an extra add-in, but I'm trying to make a point here.) Seeing as there's absolutely no reason for us to have this thing, I suggest replacing it with the sorely missed Banshee. (Well, missed by Joe and me, at least.) With its great handling, drifting abilities, and speed, the Banshee was a great addition to the LVP fleet. It was removed with the update to 2.9—like many other vehicles, as we've seen—and I see no reason why we shouldn't bring it back.

Ugh, the Trashmaster. Whose bright idea was this? Adding such a garbage (tee-hee) vehicle... I mean, it doesn't even serve any other purpose besides getting in the way of me driving. Sure, it's helpful to those would-be runners when they run smack into it, but half the time they run around anyway. It's large, slow, and totally useless. Let's replace it with a vehicle that's none of these things: the Phoenix. I don't even remember if we used to have a Phoenix or not, but it's just great. Who doesn't think back to Vice City with this awesome car? It only showed up in a race in San Fierro within the story, so why deprive our players of experiencing this lovely muscle car? I'm more into seeing the Phoenix because it's such a rarity in the singleplayer, but it's a decent vehicle, too.

It's the Pimp Mobile! (Otherwise known as the Broadway.) This vehicle is the most idiotic lowrider in the game. Really. The only excuse I (along with many others) have for driving it around is for those prostitute missions, which were absolute shit anyway. It's slow, loud, and just horrible on the eyes. You can't even mod it that much to make it look even halfway decent (which is real lame considering the fact that it's a damned lowrider). Anyway, I suggest replacing this clunk of metal with a better looking, more acceptable alternative: the Remington. If we're going to have lowriders on LVP, we should have ones that take full advantage of the mod garage and have respectable performance on the road. The Remington satisfies both of these needs, having both a great range of options in the garage and not doing too bad at all on the road (even when not tuned, which is more than you can say for the Broadway).

Last we have the Leviathan. In the singleplayer, I spent hours upon hours trying to figure out how to control the giant magnet that was available in "Up, Up, And Away!" (It was that mission for Wu Zi Mu, in case you've not played the story.) The guides even got it wrong when saying that you could use the magnet after said mission. You can't use the magnet, it flies über-slow, and it just fails. I won't lie to you here: I fucking hate this helicopter. The only reason you should be wanting to fly this piece of garbage is if you've still not figured out that you can't work that damned magnet. (Oops, spoiler alert.) I really just want this hunk of crap discarded, but I would recommend the agile News Chopper as a possible replacement. With its decent speed and possibility of considerable ascent, the News Chopper would be great not only for those wishing to get places faster, but also role players who want to act as if they're reporters for their local news team. (Yeah, I know how stupid that sounds, but here you are again thinking of the negatives. I'm trying to build a point here, damn it!)

So here you are, beloved developers: another suggestion from your loving Failure. Let me first extend what I've stated in the introductory statement. I completely understand the difficulties involved in replacing vehicles and how exasperating it can be replacing the export and import list, as well as the spawning locations. I honestly have nothing against the current spawning locations of any of the above vehicles and I'm hoping you can just replace them, but I highly doubt it's as simple as that. Again, I fully understand that this will not be the easiest of tasks and I accept the fact that I may be denied, but I'm asking that you don't deny straight away. I'm asking that you please just take the time to, if not willing to replace right away, at least look at the possibility of this suggestion coming in at a later date. I understand that there are more things that need to be dealt with at the moment with a greater amount of urgency, but I would like to request that you keep this suggestion in mind—if not soon, perhaps in a few months when things calm down a bit on the development end.

I thank you for your time in reading and trust you will keep the suggestion in mind for the future.

Sincerely,

Justin D.

P.S. I know it's a wall of text. :+

Re: [C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - Sander - 05-31-2009

Did we ask you to write a whole book?
Darn :+

Agreed with Merit, Tampa, Euros and Trashmaster tho.
The rest is just a fun vehicle, and they are for variety. Having 200 vehicles of 1 model is also a kind of boring.
Hence why the Tractor is still ingame, it's just a fun vehicle, rarely used, but fun :)

WALL OF TEXT.

Merit/Tampa > tune-able vehicles afaik. Reason they were put in I think.
BF/FCR > As Sander said.
Euros > Tune-able too?
Enforcer > Fine by me.
Baggage handler > Fun to drive vehicle.
Trashmaster > Fine by me.
Broadway > Fine by me. If you can tune it more, sure.
Leviathan > Noes, keep it in, heli-killing gangmembers with it ftw(Darius :>).

I don't see your point, why would we get 200 vehicles of 1 model? We are replacing existing vehicles with new types that aren't ingame at the moment - in other words bringing us to the exact same situation as today, but with different vehicles.

Merit and Tampa are just as tune-able as some of the cars TEF suggested as a replacement. In fact, most cars can be tuned in Transfender, so I don't really think "it's tune-able" is good enough to deny this.

I'm moving this to Open for Discussion.

Re: [C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - Joe - 05-31-2009

Fuck yeah. I agree 100% for two reasons.

1. These cars fucking suck.

2. I helped TEF make this list. :+

The suggestion on the FCR/BF was to replace them with the already existing Freeway and NRG. That would lead to having quite some more of them ingame(so I think, no idea how much we actually have of those two).

I wasn't directly denying it, I was stating the reasons why they are ingame. Or at least why I think Jay put them in. I have no idea which cars are or are not tune-able.

In fact, I like to see the Comet ingame, I always liked that car.

We're not being negative at all, we're just stating our opinion.

Re: [C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - Mark - 05-31-2009

At least let the FB-400 and FCR-900 be, otherwise it will be boring riding the same bike over and over again. As for Tampa and Merit, Tampa can be removed, no discussion, this piece of crap can't even ride properly, but Merit should stay, because we haven't got many 4-door sedans (or do we?) but of course it could be replaced with Admiral or maybe Sentinel. I also agree with the fact that Euros is a poor car, I don't even get it why it falls under category 'sports cars'. Baggage and Trashmaster can stay, because I really like them sometimes, fun to drive, and I wish there was a mini-mission with Trashmaster, for example, delivering laundry or w/e...
Broadway could also be removed/replaced because it's also a poor car, while there are more tuning abilities and cooler paintjobs, parts etc for Remmington. As for Leviathan, yeah, it should be removed as well because it's very slow.
I would also like to see the cars TEF suggested to be replaced added.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: [C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - Zezima - 05-31-2009

euros = very good for driving car , not very speedy , and u can control it eazy so dont remove it plz xD

Merit = prob the best car for drifting well for me , there is one more drifting car but it slides to mutch , merit = better.

Dont touch these two cars lolz

Re: [C&S]Vehicles & Possible Replacements - Jhon - 06-01-2009

Well I have not enough time to read now, but I'll edit when I'm done, so, for now, all I say is, the BF-400 can be replaced by a PCJ-600, for example, it's way faster (not to mention the BF-400 is shitty in appearance and handling/speed), but please don't delete the FCR, I love it, looks very cool, is fast and its engine roaring is awesome

What about the Kart? Was that here before or what? ;)
