Stop the Nuke [minigame] - Woet - 01-15-2009

When Jay and I were discussing mini-games, I came up with quite a cool minigame (according to me).

Stop the Nuke
Someone will be chosen randomly (with a minimum amount of hours), and be put in a train somewhere outside LV.
The train will be carrying an armed nuke, which will be transported to somewhere in LV.
All players will be notified about this, and it's up to them to stop the nuke train.

There will be ~ 10 checkpoints (at train junctions) where people will need to set up roadblocks, by going there and waiting in the checkpoint for 2 minutes. (1 player = 2 minutes, 2 players = 1 minute, etc.) This means teamwork is important, as you need to achieve in setting up roadblocks before the train gets there! As soon as a roadblock is set up, and the train drives over it, the train will slow down considerably. The driver will not be able to accelerate or brake, so it's all up to the other players to stop the train.

If the players achieve to stop the train, everybody will be awarded money and the driver will be killed (loses his/her money/weapons). If, unfortunaly, the players don't achieve in stopping the train, everybody will die and lose their money/weapons they had with them. The driver of the train will be awarded with money, and everything returns to normal.

Tell me what you think, and possible improvements/suggestions

Is it going to be like killtime or a normal minigame people sign up to join?

Re: Stop the Nuke [minigame] - Woet - 01-15-2009

It'll be like killtime ;)

Re: Stop the Nuke [minigame] - Ben - 01-15-2009

But what if someone's doing something important? (Well, as important as something can be done in an online game?)

Fair enough kill time can be controlled, but if someone is shot miles away to play a minigame they aren't willingly participating in, surely that can't be good?

I like the idea, but I think it should be kept to being a proper minigame. With a command to enter it.

Ben... the minigame can be in another world.

Only if you have to use a cmd for it, or are able to leave it.

Same with the terrorist minigame, you have no choice, you MUST participate or leave(when you're chosen to be the terrorist/driver). Which is something that not everyone likes.

Then they should play the game and stop the nuke ;)

The nuke will only affect LV

This minigame isn't fun with only 5 or 10 players, it will involve everyone in the server.

Explosions are quite crash-prone when wrongly used. Next to that, there really needs to be some way of signing up, randomly picking someone doesn't work, I'd be irritated.

True, people could be AFK. The nuke will be announced 15 or 30 seconds prior to it starting, and people will have that time to get sign up for it.
Also, Jay said he made a cool (I'd assume crash free) explosion script.

Re: Stop the Nuke [minigame] - Jay - 01-15-2009

No I didn't, I just said I removed some explosions from the bomb shop and a map zone because they where causing crashes  :+

I suppose we could just simulate an explosion like the Hydra Blast server does. Set a players weather to a sand storm like effect, kill them, and play the explosion sound.
