Haha, we watched the original of this in Literature class in high school. Can't really even tell which version is better, they're both good.
I also like Tom Cruise a lot. My favorite film with him is Collateral (2004) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369339/?ref_=nv_sr_1), which is also one of my very favorite films. Also very thought provoking.
I once wrote an essay about that film for school, that's how much I like it.

I think it's actually common knowledge that Nic Cage is a shitty actor. Sure he may have had some decent films back in the day but if you actually go back and rewatch the likes of ConAir you will see how cheesy he is. The only films he's good in are the ones that he plays some wacky guy, because he's basically playing himself. Tom Cruise sucks as well.
