I'm quiet surprised.
When the revolution has been ignited in Egypt there used to be countless criminals all around, kidnapping, attacking houses, robbing stores etc. the Police wasn't enough to arrest and chase all of the criminals and that's why they called for military help. What surprises me is, I constantly kept hearing that our Police, and security in general is weak and this cannot happen anywhere outside Egypt as they have strict police and none would dare to do anything out of the law.
So now I'm a little confused, I thought London's police would be strict and nothing should happen. Have the police backed off ?

No, the government have tied the police force's hands. They want to stop these thugs, and they would be able to do a lot more but the government said "it's not necessary". They have the police there but they are too powerless to stop them. Infact the people who are fighting back are putting up a better fight than the police and have more room to move.
