That's simple;
14/17 = ( 1 / 17 ) * 14 = 0.82
or, incase you mean adding them to eachother;
11/14 + 5/7 = ??
Now convert the 5/7 to ?/14, 14 is two times seven, so we have to multiply the 5 with two as well;
11/14 + 10/14 = 21/14
21/14 = ( 1 / 14 ) * 21 = 1.5
You can do that with every faction, with ?/3 and ?/5 you'll have 15 in common ( 5 * 3 = 15, 3 * 5 = 15 ), with ?/7 and ?/8 you'll have 56 in common ( 7 * 8 = 56, 8 * 7 = 56 ), etc.
