A mate of mine is into alternative metal, and Australia has some good ones like Karnivool and Mammal (haven't heard much myself).
We (Melbourne) have also got some good prog metal bands like Vanishing Point and Eyefear.

But this is all completely offtopic, being good bands.
I hate when people who turn every metalcore and other metalshit band down and only listin ''Metalicca''

Yup metalcore and nu-metal are the enemy of REAL metalheads. I'll also throw in deathcore because a lot of kids like to call that death metal but it's just poser shit.

I dunno I enjoy some metalcore even though I listen to regular metal as well. Same goes for death metal and deathcore. The core genres dont really compare because they're mostly rooted in hardcore. There is alot of crap in the core genres but a few bands shine through with solid albums. I don't consider myself a metalhead since I like both metal and hardcore punk about the same  ;)
