Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 08-07-2011 You know what's sick? Attending the most epic performance ever. Blind Guardian @ WACKEN OPEN AIR 2011 - The Bard's Song Blind Guardian was fucking immense. It's totally what I expected it to be; FU-CKING AWESOME. There's nothing better out there than listening to Valhalla, The Bard's Song and Mirror Mirror with thousands and thousands of people singing along. WOA was goddamn awesome. I'll surely be attending it once more within the coming years. Five days of immortality, though now I'm broken haha. Also, I bought a bunch of cd's I really wanted; ![]() Next to that I also bought a new red Bolt Thrower t-shirt and one of Edge of Sanity. Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 08-08-2011 Ah dude that's fucking sweet. I'll be seeing them on the 2nd and 3rd of October, can't wait! Who else did you see? Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 08-08-2011 I saw Voltax, Powerstroke, Skyline with Doro and UDO, Helloween, Blind Guardian, Ozzy Osbourne, Ensiferum, Rhapsody of Fire, Heaven Shall Burn, Judas Priest, Sirenia, Moonsorrow, Crashdïet, Mayhem and Iced Earth. Voltax is a band I really became a fan of, and was the first one we went to see. Powerstroke is a Belgian band so we didn't want to miss it. It turned out quite alright. Skyline was a disappointment to be honest. Doro did nothing for me, there was no atmosphere, though UDO kind of saved it due to his great voice. Helloween was alright, though I expected a bit more of it. I felt a lot of the songs were played a tad too slow. I Want Out totally saved that one for me, though Andi Deris kept stretching the pauses in his songs for some drunk-man talk, which ruined it. Blind Guardian was Blind Guardian. Ozzy somehow got off stage a few times, where his band members were playing solo bits for about fifteen minutes. I have to admit though that I just went watching Ozzy to see him before he died, which I couldn't do with Dio. Ensiferum was good- I was also surprised to see that there were already so many people awake at noon just to catch them playing. Rhapsody of Fire was good too- I consider them a lot better than Helloween. Heaven Shall Burn usually isn't my thing (seeing the hardcore/metalcore style), but they put on a great live performance which I did enjoy. That and I didn't want to miss their finisher 'Black Tears', seeing the EoS fan that I am. Judas Priest I only stayed for a few until Sirenia started. Sirenia was great though their gig only lasted half an hour. By then we were beat and went for a midnight chat and some rest. Moonsorrow was good but I didn't stay because I felt the music wasn't fit for a festival. I prefer to listen them through album. Crashdïet was fun- it was nice seeing some good glam. My cousin spoke to their lead singer once when he went seeing them. Mayhem I only saw the last two tunes because we were waiting for Iced Earth. Iced Earth was okay but didn't blow me away like Guardian did. I may say though that I was there at Matt Barlow's last show with them, which is nicely taken with. All by all, WOA was great, though I may say it has a lot of posers running around and tons of idiots. The best performance was without a doubt Blind Guardian's- I'm so happy that I have seen them, and it is now the best one I've seen in my still short list of live experiences. Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-07-2011 Gernotshagen's 2011 album is awesome. Check it out if you haven't already yet, Maka. Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-07-2011 I'll sure do so, it was on my list heh. That's something I'll keep for the weekend. Look what just came in the mail: ![]() It's so pretty. Re: Extreme Metal - Nater - 09-08-2011 Noice imma have a listern after work
Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-08-2011 AAAAAH YES Greatness. Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-11-2011 Caducity - The Witch's Desire Digging into some Belgian work. Re: Extreme Metal - Maddolis - 09-12-2011 Thanks for the rec, I like them. Here's a neat little track: Azaghal- Kyy(and Translation) Re: Extreme Metal - Maka - 09-12-2011 I like the sound of that. May just scope around for an album or so in a bit. Betrayed By Thy King - Crimson Shadows |
