Quote: In multiplayer online video games, ping refers to the network latency between a player's computer, called a client, and the game server (or another client). This could be reported quantitatively as an averaged time in milliseconds, or qualitatively as low ping or high ping. This usage is common with players of a variety of first-person shooter and real-time strategy games. Having a low ping is always desirable because lower latency provides smoother gameplay by allowing faster updates of game data. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping_%28video_gaming%29 In otherwords, The internet works by sending packets with your game Movement/Data From your Computer to the Host (Server ect.) The number of your ping is how fast those data packs take to transfer. (in milliseconds) To sum this all up, Ping is a matter of... Internet speed (Phoneline, DSL, Cable, T1 ect.) Processing (CPU/processor strength) Distance (How Far you are from the server) And the host's/server's bandwith The thing that effects your ping is Distance. Your hardware will not effect the gaming much. That Dual Core will work fine. Case Closed. But to affect the ping today, you'll need a CPU from like uh, 2000...? And you could say it's the distance, but it's not toooo correct. As ping is how long it takes to send and receive data from the server, that's just it. Not the distance. Distance can make the ping go up, but if it's a perfect and flawless line it's going through (non-shared). It could hardly affect anything at all. But we don't have these flawless lines, heh. Unless it's for the military or something. So okay yes, distance can cause your ping to be higher. But there are other things that can cause this. Such as;

Intel Pentium 4 1.6Ghz HT or above, Or AMD Sempron 2200+ (1.8ghz) to run sa-mp. Recommended, Intel Pentium 4 2.5Ghz HT or above, Or AMD Athlonx2. I got intel pentium4 3.2ghz HT, im looking forward to getting a new one eventually, when im less poor, somthing like Core2Quad. But just on the sidenote, For a high model graphic card, you need a better CPU, so that CAN effect the FPS majority of the game.
