I actually listen to these kind of musics a lot before/while sleeping and I kinda feel as if I was in trance...you should try it out, especially with EarthViews/SpaceNight a friend also suggested Objects in the Sky.

It's not really ambient.. It's balearic trance. But it has a laid back feeling. Just imagine that perfect beach and sunset with it, and palm trees. That's what it's all about. Just hear it when that guitar kicks in..

Oh, balearic trance is also on there I see. It fals under the trance category first though.
I have no idea how the fuck house music ended up under that chillout category. That's just totally wrong. Same with DnB.
Then again, wikipedia is wrong about a lot of shit..

Brackets = correct but from another genre.
Black scratched = totally wrong or doesn't exist.
Green = the actual head genre of Chillout/Ambient.
Yellow = sub-genres.
