The game is awesome,I've started the game a few days ago,today I got lost in a cave lol and found a lot of gold but it doesn't give me any gold.

Ah man, me and my friend found diamonds on the first world we played on, spent ages whacking it with a stone pick, just to find out we didn't get any diamonds

what can i do with obsidian? im making it now cus im in some kind of cave with a bucket, a water spot, and a lava spot.

You can create a gate to.... the nether world!
But really, you can and it's pretty nice. Check this topic, it shows how you can make one. You can also use it as a building material but I wouldn't recommend that as it takes ages to mine and you must have a diamond pickaxe for it.
