Re: Football Topic - Munch - 05-01-2011

Liverpool 3 - 0 Newcastle!

Scorers: Maxi Rodrigues, Dirk Kuyt (penalty) and Luis Suárez

Good game. Maxi scored another goal (and early goal) under 10 minutes. Liverpool controlled the ball for another 10 minutes, then went silent up front and kept conceding corners (at least 6 corners in the first half).

In the second half, Liverpool picked it up again, then when we got the penalty Kuyt scored (his 12th goal this season) and gave us that breather. Shortly after that Suárez scored and secured our win. To make it better, it was a clean sheet!

Liverpool are now in 5th place on goal difference. Tottenham have a game in hand, however they have Man City after Blackpool then Liverpool (at Anfield).

Can we finish in 5th place? Possibly, but it's relying on Spurs to fail...and whenever we rely on other teams luck goes against us.

Woohoo! Arsenal beat Man U too!

Liverpool winning 3-0, getting 5th place (on g/d), Spurs drawing (and Chelsea gaining a point in the process) and Arsenal beating Man U. A good day to be a Liverpool fan!

Would have been better for us if Chelsea got all 3 pts and Spurs got 0 (closing Chelsea's gap on Man U and putting Spurs 1pt behind us) but we can't have it all. It would have been even better if it was Arsenal 4 pts behind Man U, and that may have been to case if Wenger learned to use the transfer window a bit better.

Arsenal beating Man U also brings United's g/d down by 1, making it easier for Chelsea to win the league by goal difference if it came to that. Still 3 games to go so anything can happen. And 4 games for Spurs...and 5 for City.

Lol I thought it was 2-1 but I saw 1-1 somewhere and didn't look properly. It did make me wonder when dappamikey was talking about the offside goal that was allowed.

Re: Football Topic - dappamikey - 05-02-2011

Good luck to you, you deserve 5th on current form (I fucking hate you scousers), our league form has crumbled since we beat Milan away:

Blackpool away lost 3-1
Wolves away drew 3-3
West Ham home drew 0-0
Wigan away drew 0-0
Stoke home won 3-2
Arsenal home drew 3-3
West Brom home drew 2-2

That's one of the easiest runs you will get in a season yet we've managed 8/21 pts, a shocking return and it shows how desperatley we need a striker.

and a better defence and midfield

Re: Football Topic - AzKiller - 05-03-2011

Liverpool 3x0 Aston Villa - "Let's pretend we've scored a goal" :D

Re: Football Topic - Munch - 05-03-2011

Lol, I remember last season when Liverpool beat West Ham 3-0 at Anfield. Liverpool fans were quiet but West Ham fans were singing, and some pretty funny songs too. My favourite was "Thursday night, we're having a pint". That's so British!

Oh and Barcelona has advanced to the Champions League finals at Wembley stadium!

Barcelona 1 - 1 Real Madrid (3-1 AGG)

Barcelona vs Schalke in the final? Would be nice to see!

It's weird how you did so well in the Champions League, even though you had possibly the hardest campaign, yet struggled against B and C teams. Now you know what it's been like to be a Liverpool fan for the past 5 or 6 years!

Of course I can see it. It's just that I don't like Man U, so I'd like to see Schalke make it to the finals.
