^Thats an example of a heatsink.

The thermal paste basicly cools down the CPU.

^Thermal paste

How much thermal paste would I need to put on, and would I need to keep putting it on?

Re: Upgrading My PC* | EDIT: Building PC - Help with parts. - FarePak - 06-26-2009

A little less than the picture should be enough, and no you wouldn't need to keep putting on, it should stay there for at least a year or more.

Edit: The only time you would need to put more if is if you ever take off the heatsink for whatever reason.

With what i'm getting, do I get heatsink, if not I'll have to buy it.

The heatsink should've came with the CPU you bought.

Also, you should really look up some guides on building a computer. One good, newer one ive found is from ncix: http://forum.ncix.com/forums/index.php?mode=showthread&forum=116&threadid=1595867&pagenumber=2&msgcount=47&subpage=1

I took the CPU out of a diffent computer, but I do still have the other heatsink, so I'll just use that.

Thanks for the link man.

Thank's all seriously alot, I'd be nowere without all you :')

EDIT: Changed GFX card to http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=39293. It's the same but with 1gb VRAM not 512mb :D And cheaper! Thanks Hitman

;(

I was just going to order my parts when my mum spoke to this computer tec guy and he recomended buying a iMAC.

$2100 or something, but my mums paying for it  >:)

It's
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4gb DDR3 ram
1tb hard drive
24 inch
NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory < ;(

I want to know, is it possible to upgrade the iMAC? Like its GPU?
If not, then I guess it's alright

Would this be able to run IV and COD4/5?

Soz for double post
