Re: Football Topic - Munch - 10-03-2010 It's not the team itself that is a problem, I can look at any starting XI and smile, I can look at any bench and smile, even in the youth and reserve teams. It's the spirit, mentality and other problems that we don't see outside. In training they're always happy, on the pitch they look as though they don't know eachother. And I think Hodgson has just come in so he can retire from managing while in a high profile club. He relegated Blackburn when he was with them and unless something changes he'll do the same with us. People can't say it's because he's not had any funds or anything, at Fulham the owner is pretty rich but Hodgson didn't spend that much and he did brilliantly with them. He kept going on about how we need a striker and brings in midfielders and defenders but didn't bring in a single forward. I don't think we needed a striker that bad anyway, N'Gog and Kuyt is enough backup for Torres, and while he has them he still continues to play Torres on his own most of the time. Oh and he keeps playing Daniel Agger at Left Back when he's a Centre Back. He also plays Johnson at Right Back when he's one of the worst defenders ever. He should put Johnson on the wing (to solve that problem) then put local lad Martin Kelly at Right Back (when not injured) and there's that problem sorted. [me=Munch]leaves another big post.[/me] Re: Football Topic - Unbreak - 10-04-2010 Liverpool 1 - 2 Blackpool Chelsea 2 - 0 Arsenal Inter Milan 0 - 0 Juventus Barcelona 1 - 1 Mallorca Real Madrid 6 - 1 Deportivo La Coruna Most of them failed. Grats for Chelesa and Real madrid though. Barcelona
Re: Football Topic - XiZ - 10-06-2010 CRISIS club Liverpool are to be sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. The takeover — by New England Sports Ventures — is subject to the outcome of a legal dispute with US owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. The Premier League will also have to approve the American buyout. Hicks and Gillet are unlikely to go quietly however, after last night's bitter power struggle saw them try to sack managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre. The club's two American owners are unhappy at the bid, feeling the club has been "dramatically undervalued". Purslow, Ayre and chairman Martin Broughton will fight attempts to replace them legally, and force through the sale. Broughton said: "I am delighted that we have been able to successfully conclude the sale process which has been thorough and extensive. "The Board decided to accept NESV's proposal on the basis that it best met the criteria we set out originally for a suitable new owner. "NESV's philosophy is all about winning and they have fully demonstrated that at Red Sox. "We've met them in Boston, London and Liverpool over several weeks and I am immensely impressed with what they have achieved and with their vision for Liverpool Football Club. "By removing the burden of acquisition debt, this offer allows us to focus on investment in the team. "I am only disappointed that the owners have tried everything to prevent the deal from happening and that we need to go through legal proceedings in order to complete the sale." Re: Football Topic - Munch - 10-06-2010 Liverpool's fate was just about to be handed over to the Royal Bank of Scotland and if that happened the club will be sold for a much lower price and H+G won't get much money from it. With time running out, many protests, the Spirit Of Shankly trying to drive them out and then a video (Dear Mr Hicks (see below)) was produced with Liverpool fans and celebrities (also Liverpool fans) which was released just yesterday. Tom Hicks in particular started feeling the pressure and with the media in America getting involved and writing up stories (thanks to us fans) he was effectively backed into a corner. In order for someone to buy the club, a bidder must be accepted by Tom Hicks, George Gillett, Christian Purslow, Martin Broughton and Ian Ayre. The owners have already tried accepting bids from (corrupt) bidders but the board kept disallowing it to happen. Because of this, Hicks and Gillete tried sacking Purslow and Ayre and appointing two replacements (Hick's son and the vice president of Kop Holdings) but news of that went public straight away and it didn't happen. They tried that so they could accept an offer THEY liked getting THEM money and possibly putting us further into shit. They couldn't fire Martin Broughton because he's employed by the banks and not them so they couldn't sack him. Last night we got told about two bidders aswell as the part where they tried firing Purslow and Ayre but all summer we kept getting told about bidders and nothing happened so we didn't think much of it. The bidders were the owners of the Red Sox (another American who owns a baseball team (like Hicks)) and another unknown bidder believed to be from Asia (rumoured Middle East). This morning it's said that we got bought by the Red Sox owner and the Spirit Of Shankly spokesman James McKenna told journalists what the sale means to everyone and now that the dark cloud has been lifted from all of us (fans, players, manager and board) the team should start performing soon. If they still don't get their act together then they now have nobody to blame but themselves. The Red Sox owner has also done a good job at the baseball club since taking over them and are not like Hicks and Gillett. David Moores and Rick Parry didn't do their research properly and when they sold to the Americans they didn't do any background checks as they have ruined businesses before who are still suffering many years later (Brazil's Panathinaikos). Here's the video! Dear Mr Hicks Re: Football Topic - CLUTCH - 10-07-2010 COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Football Topic - Munch - 10-07-2010 The wife of former Liverpool manager Joe Fagan died (peacefully) today at the age of 92. ![]() I don't actually know her name but she was nicknamed Lil' Fagan. It's also Sami Hyypiä's birthday! He's 37 years old. If other players learned to play with the heart and passion he does, football will be much more fun to watch.
