The Carling Cup and FA Cup are a great way for teams to see their future stars. Liverpool could see the next Gerrard and Carragher in these kind of games but of course Roy just sits there while Sammy Lee does all the work. Then when the team's biggest rival's manager accuses our main striker of cheating he responds with ''I was too far away, he was closer'' despite only being a few feet closer.
The Carling Cup and FA Cup should be taken seriously, not with the first (or maybe even second) team but should be taken seriously as it's a good chance for the young players to shine and it gives unfit players (like Torres) the chance to find his feet.

Liverpool drew 0-0 against FC Utrecht (at Utreg's ground). I noticed how people complain about Torres getting lack of service, but in the first half he got plenty of it but was being a lazy bastard. In the second half he started to work for himself but couldn't score.

Whenever anyone says anything about the ref people defend the referee by saying ''refs have a hard job'', running back and forward and sending people off unfairly isn't hard.
