I went to that game, at half time and before extra time the over-head speaker guy mentioned the scores. We were cheering when they said Newcastle were 2-1 up at half time and  think Man City were drawing, then before half time it was 4-3 to Newcastle and 2-1 to West Brom against Man City.

....And then we joined them! However... (big post coming)

There were times we were playing like we were against West Brom but other times we played decent. N'Gog played his heart out so those "fans" that rip on him should piss off.

Spearing played good, the players kept ignoring him but he was all over the place, Pacheco played okay but definitely needs more experience, he was in charge of corners and all sorts until he came off at the end. Wilson played okay, Kyrgiakos played his heart out and saved us a lot.

Jonjo Shelvey lifted the team up as soon as he came on and was the reason we got to penalties. Lucas played good, he went quiet at times but he did his job, kept trying to get up and didn't stop running.

AND in the penalties when N'Gog missed Lucas went up to comfort him. It's not easy missing a crucial penalty infront of the Kop, even Gerrard feels the pressure so to be as young as he is, missing there will have him depressed or a while. When he walked back up, Lucas came out and made him feel better, how many others would have done that?

And them Northampton fans singing Everton songs and stuff on the way home too...damn them!

(I went to the game as well, at the bottom of the Kop, got a great view). And £2 for a drink of cola in a cup...stupid Hicks & Gillett!

I missed my dentist appointment too, I did.

Lol nah I haven't drank tea since I was a baby (and didn't have an appointment).

Oh and I'm supporting Newcastle this Carling Cup and made a bet I'd buy a Newcastle shirt if they win it. :P

Well Lolerpools result certainly made it easier to take our defeat the night before. Not going to say it's a useless cup as normally there's only 2 chance to play at wembley in a season, just so happens the Champions League final is at wembley too...

Re: Football Topic - XiZ - 09-23-2010

Carling Cup should be only for Championship and lower divison teams. Premiership clubs have CL, EL, Cup and League to battle for.

Yes, but the Championship and lower leagues have 46 League games, FA Cup, Carling Cup aswell as other trophies like St Johnstone's Paint Trophy (League 1 and 2). Premiership teams play much harder teams of course, but they're Premiership teams so they should be able to handle the Carling Cup. And then there's the semi-professional clubs who play a lot too.

Not only that but at the start only 4 teams are in the Champions League unless someone out of the top 4 won it, and only 3 teams are originally in Europa League unless the winner lands outside the European qualifying places. If you finish below 7th you have the Premier League games (38 of them), FA Cup and Carling Cup. If a player can't handle that they should pay a visit to the Scottish League.

I think the carling cup has merit, it has helped tottenham in the past.
