Expanding the Scoreboard
#1
MTA's scoreboard is pretty flexible and in addition to the "usual" stuff like player names/ids, pings, and money, I was thinking some other stuff could be added. So here is a list of random ideas I came up with. Obviously not all would work, but perhaps one or two might be interesting, either from this list or someone else's suggestion:
  • Current Wanted Level; has the advantage of being small although I'm not sure how useful it would be since most of the people with high-levels are constantly fighting so you're seeing the level increase announcements regularly anyhow.
  • Kills (or Kills & Deaths) during the current play session. A display of fighting ability that's more permanent than the wanted level or kill board which DMers might like; I wonder if it were implemented if people would reconnect to clear a bad ratio. ;)
  • Property earnings (per minute). Might increase property competition (which I think is a good thing) but might also encourage some extra begging (which is bad). It'd also be a pretty wide column since it is pretty common for people to hit six or seven digits.
  • Current Bounties. Again, it would have to be quite big, but it might make bounty-hunting a little more common since it's right on the main scoreboard instead of having to use a special command; also helps identify the situation where someone "inherits" a bounty that was placed on another player who has now disconnected if the bounty system will still work the same way.
  • "User Level." (for lack of a better name) Short text string (or perhaps an icon if that's possible; haven't looked too deeply into the scoreboard resource) which denotes whether each player is registered, regular, VIP, mod, admin, etc.

These are pretty cool.
Another thing I'd like to add is sorting by amount...
As in, you click the top of any category, and it lists in order from greatest/lower in that category

Also, maybe instead of a kills per session, we could have kills per minute, calculated by an average?

We're currently still using the scoreboard resource, where we'll eventually use a custom made one to suit our own needs. User ID's will return, as well as a number of other items on the list, but we'll have to look into that at a later stage of the development process.
