New gang system

I've begun implementing a new gang system for Las Venturas Playground. The first version will offer feature parity with the current gang system on the server, but will persist between playing sessions. A second step will be to add a "!gangs" command on IRC, create a new section on the website and figure out the best way to rank gangs among each other.

This is great news and I like the gang system which you suggest. However, I would like to know if it's possible now or in future to make a 'gang base' too. For example, gangs/clans can choose a building and set it as their clanbase based on some requirements. (like clan should be atleast 3 months old/pay a fee,etc) Also an interior can be added where all  gang members can enter and chill like donator club and also spawn there ( spawn isn't necessary). Thank you!  :)

We have a sort of (draft) proposal written here: https://github.com/LVPlayground/playground/wiki/Gangs.

Although we tend to work towards that, we ain't sure yet if we are going to follow it. Hence the draft in the previous sentence. For the beginning of the feature we have decided to have it at least working with some basic features. Perhaps we get/see other/better ideas then we already have (in the draft).

Gangs should be rated on a SCORE system, if a member kills someone outside of the gang, +1 score, then /topgangs should show the groups with highest score, will encourage tons of competition

Having persistent gangs is a prerequisite for such systems. I would really like to save that discussions for a larger Housing thread, because the last thing we want to do is to have two housing systems.

I would like this to be a little bit more complicated :)

On Las Venturas Playground, we have this thing called Karma that combines a whole lot of your statistics. My current idea is to build upon the karma system, but add more weight to the (1) average activity of the gang's members, and (2) fighting statistics, notably kills, deaths and ratio, because that is an inherent interest of most gangs.

I agree on both points with Russell, but like to note some stuff about the last point.

Ranking a gang based only only k/d is the most unfair thingie you can do. Look as example to shooters, if you suck at having a good k/d - you can still make a lot of nice points with capturing/taking objectives and do some assists. In my opinion we should look at that too for gangs. As Russell said I think we should combine such stuff in karma or something named like that. On this way a gang doesn't rely on only k and d's.

How about the spray tag turf comp/stat, gangs would race to dominate the number of spray tags owned by their gang, spraying over each others and perhaps earning an hourly fee for dominating the tag turf, gangs and turfs are the basics here.
