Meteorite explodes over Russia
#1
A meteorite exploded over Russia earlier today. Hundreds of people have been injured (mostly shattered glass) and now over 20 100 people hospitalised. The article says 474 injured but on the site that I found this article on a comment said over 700 900.

Some nice videos in that link. Might want to turn your speakers down though on some of them with including the explosion.

I wish it happened on 21st December 2012. It'd have been space (or God's) way of trolling the doomsday believers. :P

I think this topic should've been made in the Media Talk section...could a moderator move it (if it is necessary), please?

It was the first news article I read when I woke up this morning. Some nice amateur footage as well; that sonic boom was immense.
I've read that about a hundred people were hospitalised, though on BBC's news feed it only says forty-six.

I keep reading different numbers for the people injured and those hospitalised. We should get an actual number over the next few days when people stop getting injured.

It's said that there's no record of a person dying by being hit by a meteorite. Would be a nice way to die by making history...although if you wake up in an afterlife you might have a nasty headache. :P

Well, the news is on right now, but all they've stated is "near a thousand". Still, it's a nice phenomenon, despite all the damage obviously.
I wonder how the extreme religious take this. It's probably the Pope's fault, with the retirement and all that jazz. God's saying 'fuck you', people.

Apparently Jesus wants in by writing an article under the clever disguise as Mr. "Diaz."
They're all pissed at Ratzinger now.

I first heard about this from my mother.... She said, "the doomsday is coming nearer." I asked how, then she told me about this meteorite... I don't see how this is related to religion in any way though -,-
