Temporary Administrator Guidelines
#1
Las Venturas Playground Temporary Administrator Guide

The following guidelines are meant as a general handbook for players that have received a temporary Administrator status. It provides you with general information on how our crew members moderate the gameserver and what commands you have at your disposal to do so.

The main thing you should do is enforcing the rules; every player should follow them and if they break one we either point them in the right direction or remove the player from the server if they fail to do so.
To communicate with one and other we use the admin chat, which is readable by every administrator and moderator in-game or from IRC. If you are uncertain as to what kind of action you should take, please use @<message> to converse with the in-game crew members or use /crew <message> to send a message directly to the crew channel on IRC and you will be helped as soon as possible.

As a temporary Administrator your main tasks will be to ban obvious cheaters, moderate the chat room and provide general information regarding the game mode to new players.

Cheaters
The most obvious and most commonly used cheats are a form of god mode, airbrake and no-reload. You will receive reports from players in the admin chat. To determine if a player is actually cheating, use /watch <ID/name> to spectate a player. You can use the /p command set to “test” the suspect. Use /p <id/name> burn to set a player on fire and look if his health decreases. You can also use /p <id/name> handofgod to throw a player into the air to test for fall damage. Once you have determined that the player is indeed cheating, use /ban <id> <reason> to ban the player from the server. It is advised that for your first several bans you use a screen grab tool like FRAPS to capture the evidence of the cheat. It is also advised to capture if you are uncertain so you can hand over the footage to an administrator for further analysis. Make sure to enter an informative reason. These reasons are stored for future reference.

Note: Players can be bugged sometimes. There's no hurry on kicking or banning, use the fix command to fix a player and if that doesn't work make sure you have a demo before taking further actions. Whitebug: None of the commands will work on a player unless it's a kick or ban. A whitebugged player sometimes could have god mode without knowing this and cannot see messages of others. Could also kill other players.

The chat
We would like for everyone to feel comfortable therefore we take cases of racism very strict. But not so when dealing with flaming or swearing. Depends if it's heavy flaming or swearing.
Once you spot a player breaking the chat rules, use /p ID nocaps, /show commands or warn this player by sending a personal message.

If a player continues to after several warnings you're to mute this player by using the /mute ID [duration] command.
If you want to send a message to all online players use /show, this is useful when multiple people are swearing to each other for example.

The general rule for chat moderation is: Warn 3 times then mute, on repeated offences kick. If the offence is serious like racism, mute instantly.

In conclusion
The crew is there to make sure everyone has a great experience on our server, do not abuse your rights you have received because we trust you to do the same.

If you're not sure what a command does, perhaps try this on yourself or ask a Crewmember.
Please do not be so strictly on the players, we love to give players a chance.
