LastRace contacted my though PM if he could become a developer for us.

Quote:I think i started scripting three years ago. Worked very hard and spent very much time to make myself better @pwn. I was an active scripter nearly 9 months ago, and i have some irl works atm, but 2 or 3 weeks later, i will be able to script again. We've been playing @ LVP since 08', and i want to help the server now, not only playing

And SA:MP profile: http://forum.sa-mp.com/member.php?u=101943
(was using this when i was beginner @scripting, was asking questions via this account. If they weren't help me, i still was a beginner, so thank to the samp community)

Example script: http://pastebin.com/0wGggDi4

What do we think?

I know him and he's a very friendly guy, he's been around the community for a very long time indeed. I quickly glanced at his example script and it looks fine as well.

Get him in ASAP I'd say :p.

So? :p. Help in 3 weeks is better than no help at all. The same goes for me btw, he probably has exams as well.

Hi LR!
Join us on IRC  - LVP.Dev password is smurf_ :)

Do you have any experience with using a ticketing system like trac, or source management software like svn?

Not sure if I am supposed to post here or talk about it (I think LastRace can read this :p): The example script is a very cheap way of scripting. Those forwarded callbacks can be decreased by 50%. Most of those do not need any defination at all. Also, the if statement and loops are very unorganised and the way it is scripted, the server may crash if around 100 people are joining the server. Or it will start huge lag.

Just telling you. As a scripter you shouldn't just think about "I don't care, the only thing that matters is: The script should work". We should think about how efficient the script is, and if it won't cause any lag/trouble in the server. Creating a script until it functions properly is only half of the work.

If you need a proper explanation and proof about the script, tell me and I will post it in this thread. It may be a huge post because I can explain a lot about it.

Hi guys!  :+

Just got the passwords, sorry for delay :P

@Biesman, that is a training server which i was planning to run it max. with 20 players. And, that's my first and last script which i start from zero. I've learnt scripting with this pwn. file, and there are still lots of thingies to learn for sure. But you know, school, exams, stress etc., and i'm always busy with irl works though, so i never had enough time to write. That doesn't mean my scripting skills are bad, just want to say if i had more time, it might be better, i hope you get what i mean.

And also, there are lots of suggestions in CSI topics, and people are always waiting for LVP's next version, they wonder about the new features. There are too much suggestions, but not much developers, I'm here to alleviate our developers' works. And i'm a player of LVP since 2008, i "played" only when im in-game, never thought to help them although i knew pawno language. And i see that job like a debt which i gotta pay to LVP community. I was thinking about being a developer of LVP since 2010, but never had time to do that. But nearly 2 weeks later, i will have too much time to help nearly for 3-4 months.

About the "I don't care, the only thing that matters is: The script should work" part, if i was thinking  that, be sure, i wasn't even start scripting from the beginning.

And i want to say welcome to you, too!  :)

@Jay, yeah, we used to use it with iou (used ticketing system, only 1 or 2 times, then iou kicked me out  :X ), but now, i don't really remember it. I've that program called tortoisesvn, and i will try it to remember. All i wanna say is i'm not stranger to svn :)

And i want to notice that i have two final exams left. I may not be able to start scripting in a week, but in max. 2 weeks, i'll completely be free :)
