Minigames which only admins can start
#1
I think there should be minigames (probably not the ones that are currently running in the main server, but the ones that are planned to be added in the future) which only admins should be able to start it.

I saw a server, I don't remember exactly which one, I think it was 'Impulse'. They have an /event command. It's to join a special DM minigame, or race minigame that supposedly only admins can start it and it's not always available, because it's changing. So whatever minigame it is, that's always popular. I think the server/admins should interact more with players.

When H&S was added, only admins were able to start it and it used to be pretty popular. Now people barely play it.

I don't know if you get my idea, but it's like when you're watching a movie on TV, you won't stop watching because you know you won't be able to watch it again, but if you have the movie in a DVD or in the computer, you might stop for watching it later.

It might be ridiculous, but that's how I think. :+

I agree with this, and I think there might already be discussion about it. Not only does it make sense, but past instances (like HAS) prove this to be true. People want what they can't always have, and this method would do just that.

Don't Get Wet has already been discussed to be an hourly minigame, or optionally started by admins.

hourly=fail, unstable player count throughout the day

Oh, I didn't know it. I knew it was planned to be added to 2.94, but I didn't know you were going to add it temporarily.
Anyways there should be more special minigames. The DM minigames, there could be more maps/areas to the same type of minigame. The minigame should start only 40 seconds after the admin had typed the command to make sure it has a lot of people. (Oh and I have more suggestions for the DM minigames)

Since there won't be more than one of these 'awesome' minigames organized by admins running, it should have an easy command that would be the same for every type of minigames like that. Something like /fun, /party, /dm. It surely would attract more people.

I agree with this idea in its entirety.

When I first scripted Rivershell, Lyse and Capture The Briefcase, only admins could start them. On rare occasions that the minigames did start, people would actually join. Unfortunately someone butted in and made it accessible for players and they got boring very quickly.

But should it be started by admins? Because if players see that an admin did it more will join? What if there are non online?

I think a better approach would be to have a selection randomized each hour and started every ~10 minutes.
Players that join should receive a bigger reward then normal minigames and maybe an extra achievements or a place on the LVP recurring minigame highscores.

Or does 2.9.4 already has this?
