TF2 Server connection issues

On any server I attempt to join, I receive the error: "Disconnected: The server your trying to connect to is running a newer version of the game."

I updated the game last night, and my game should automatically download the updates itself. So I'm sure it's up to date.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Uhm, in properties, there's the option to verify the game cache or something somewhere, tried that yet?

Actually yes, bought it about 3 years ago

I verified the Cache and it said '6 files failed to valide and will be redownloaded'

Looks like that might have done the trick, thanks. I'll give it a try in a minute.
