Policy on client-side mods

I think /rules uses the LVM plugin, which makes it a botch to add to.

I know we just decided the policy on fly mod, but I propose we use a plugin to allow fly mods for VIP+, so they can use that instead of the MagicCarpet. Thoughts?

Flying is waaaaaay easier than MC. And as you saw, MC can be used for  gathering glass/glowstone.

But fly mod can also be used to generate a shitton of chunks in a very short time. It also puts a strain on our server's resources. There are pros and cons to either choice.

Hmm, right, never really thought about that.
Reducing it to VIP+ only, how many people are we talking about? And how many of those actually play on a regular basis?

We currently have about 28 VIP's, 12 of which play on a very regular basis, and 16 play quite often.

And then of course the crew. I suppose that'd be better than having everyone use it.
Do you think that would be "ok", looking at the resources the mod takes?

We could allow it solely for building, so not to really fly to places. But that's hard to control.

I don't think it will be too much of an issue. It really comes down to Rien at this point.

Kareltje asked me this, while I wouldn't mind this per se, it's hard to control.

"Hey, I just saw you flying!"
"Yeah, I'm building here."

Imo you have to draw a line somewhere, but that's just my opinion
