Playback sound help request.
#1
Hello there,

Well, I bought a new headset(containing mic) recently. I can talk through the mic and people can here me but I can't hear anything through headsets. the problem is from the settings I guess, so I want the experiments here to give me some solutions.

There are 2 cables extended from the headset, one of them is red (mic cable) and i plugged to the front red jack on my pc case. and the second cable is black and i plugged it to the front green jack on the case.

Mic settings on "Sound settings" >> "Recording" tab on control panel:

As you see I placed the red mic cable to the front red jack and it worked.

"Playback" tab:

As you see here, There is no other Playback device apart from that "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)" related to Headset or shit, and that only device shows that you must plug your cable to "Black ATAPI Internal jack" which I dont know whats that to be honest, so My request is to tell me if there is any thing to do to change the Location of the jack to be "Front green jack" instead of "ATAPI Internal jack" OR to add a new Playback device, so i can configure the jack place.. All I want is to get my headset able to hear sounds finally.

Did you try use any programs like teamspeak, vent, see if it works fine there ?
Make sure you plug in the colour cable in the right one mine is other, green for headset,red/light  for mic.I had this problem once but I could hear but people couldn't hear me because of the mic,I didn't choose the correct settings in the audio settings.few days messing myself in it I got it worked.

Do you have any other speakers or headphones you can use to test to make sure the headphone port on your computer is actually working?

On my computer, the audio drivers has its own control panel separate from the windows one. See if you can find one on yours and hopefully the setting will be in there.

Yeah, even my external speakers stopped giving sound.. So the headsets are not the problem, the problem is that in "Playback tab" there is only one Device, which shows that the sound port/jack is internal. but i just want to change it to an external jack. Any ideas?

Try re-installing your audio drivers. If that doesn't work it could be an actually connection problem so if your willing to open up your computer, check to make sure everything is connected fine.
