Hi,
Over a week ago, I got my computer back from getting repaired, and the guy put Vista on the computer. I don't have much knowledge about Vista but it seemed to work fine for me for a while.
Since today, Firefox has been crashing constantly. I would open it, it would run for a minute or two and then it would crash and I'd get an error saying "Firefox has stopped working" (I assume it's the Vista version of "Windows has encountered an error").
I have tried deleting the updates and that hasn't changed a thing. I went to Programs and Features and clicked uninstall on Firefox, but it's still installed. The only difference is it's not part of that list.
I have looked on Google and haven't got an answer yet, I'll still look after posting this topic. I'm going to install Firefox 4.
Does anyone have any ideas?
And please, don't tell me to move to Chrome. I like Firefox and wish to continue using it. If you have nothing useful to say, don't say it.
Edit: Firefox 4 seems to be going smooth for now, but any suggestions (incase it isn't gone) will be welcome.
And I'm not a big fan of the Google Chrome theme. I liked the old look.

Since it was just recently reformatted, i would suggest formatting again with Win 7. Well worth the time spent upgrading imo.

I guess he already had Vista and didn't want to buy 7. And XP is on its last legs so he didn't put that on.

I already planned on getting Windows 7, but I haven't gone to get it yet. I'm definitely going to get it though.
Oh and I'm on Vista Business. I think that's a later version so isn't as buggy as the previous versions.
What version of Windows 7 should I be looking to get? Does it even matter if I get Home, Professional or any version after that?

updates tend to apply to all copies of Windows

Windows Vista is not horrible if you have more than 3gb of ram, but definitely worth upgrading to Windows 7.
As for Firefox crashing, version 3.x has been popular for that, sometimes issues caused by registry cleaners or virus's that will prevent browsers from working as intended. Hopefully FireFox 4 will solve that issue, I haven't had a problem yet with it.
As for google chrome, I also dislike the theme very must and the overall UI, but like I've probably said in previous topics, I keep it around because as it's known for, it's very fast, I use it mainly for streaming videos and movies (ex: NETFLIX) and so on. Definitely worth downloading it just for that kind of stuff.
[Edit] Try for Ultimate, home edition is a slight bit less ram using though.

I have 4 GB of ram (new buy), but it only recognises 3GB (not 3.33GB). I remember seeing on this forum that 32 bit versions can't recognise more than 3.33GB. Vista's working fine for me so far, there are the odd problems, but compared to what I was expecting, it's not too bad.
Firefox 4 seems to be working fine so far. I should have expected Firefox to change to the Chrome theme. I dislike the Chrome theme and interface, but it looks like it's going to be here for a while.

Firefox has tons of persona's, custom themes I think that's what makes it awesome if you want a nice themed computer, another browser that people just hate to mention that I find rather great speed and stability would be Safari for windows.
If I'm right there are a few tutorials to get Firefox 4 looking similar to 3, try googling around.
(For the record for some people who are fan boys of their browser, google and mozilla are partner companies.)

I have a nice Liverpool Football Club persona, but on the Firefox 4 theme it doesn't look as nice as it did because of the bubble/glow-like effect on the buttons.
