Dear Developers,
2010 was not a good year for LVP. The player counts dropped, there were a lot of internal arguments between developers, plans were not followed, targets were not met and development generally was slow throughout the year. Next to that there is also a huge list of bugs.
In case some of you are still not yet aware, I was not long ago 'promoted' to lead developer.
It's a new year for LVP, and a fresh start. There are going to be changes, and lots of them.
The development process right now is not very different compared to the way it was two years ago.
There are going to be some new rules coming into affect, one of which I will mention now:
All developers must make at LEAST one* commit a week or show evidence of development work or they will be seen unfit to be a member of this team.
Obviously exceptions will be added for people with personal problems away from their monitor but notice must be given if one cannot develop so that we may compensate for the loss.
Therefore, I'm going to ask that every developer respond to this topic with a target of what they think they can meet in terms of committing work every week.
We're going to be recruiting some new developers soon and need to know this information so that we are aware of the intensity and strictness behind the recruitment process.
I will detail further changes/policies/rules/plans in another topic soonish after we've gathered some more information. Note that none of these rules have not yet come into effect.
Kind Regards,
Jay
My target will be 5 commits a week or one big ticket.
* There will be rules around this. Minor changes like typo fixes will not be included.
