Left 4 Dead 2 crashing

I recently updated my game from 2.0.3.3 - 3.4, then 2.0.3.4 to 3.5, etc. up to 2.0.3.8.
It worked yesterday, but now that I've updated, the game just closes as soon as it loads, without even showing the main menu.

And idea how I can fix this?

when using steam,

right click on the game, go properties
'Local Files' tab -> 'Verify integrity of game cache'

now steam will check ur game files for corrupt/missing ones, should work after

If you didn't buy the game but just downloaded it and are updating manually:
I have no idea, go buy it you ****
