Graphics Card Reccommendations...
#1
I'm pretty much useless at determining what makes a good graphics card and if it's compatible with my current hardware so I'll post my specs and hope you come up with the answers.

Thanks in advance.

Erm I have PCIe slot, no AGP though.

Whats your current gpu?

I wouldnt put in a stronger card than a HD 5670 or HD 5750, because your CPU isn't that good

Oh it doesn't say it there, my bad...

Geforce 7300LE

I know for a fact that is the worst part of my comp, to be fair it's 3 years old now tho.

Maybe one of the middle-range Nvidia GTX's

Out of interest how much performance gains, from either of those options, could I expect to see or am I clutching at straws?

Incorrect Jakez, on a 2 core processor with only 1.8ghz, he will not make it too far with a GTX anything.

On the Nvidia side I would recommend a Geforce 8800GT, or a Geforce 9800GT MAYBE a gts250.

Also if you would rather have ATI over Nvidia. I would say... ATI Radeon HD 4650, Radeon HD 4830, MAYBE Radeon HD 4850, Radeon HD 5450, or Radeon hd 5670.

Any higher of cards then you are wasting your money and will not get full performance from them, infact it may decrease performance if you get a top of the line card, unless you are planning a CPU upgrade very soon. But if you are keeping your current system then I would stick with one of the cards above.

Like i said, get a HD 5670.

It has about 4-6 times the power of your current 7300 :) (if not more!)

I don't see him caring at all about DX11 so my recommendation has to go to the HD 4850...its just too good of a card to pass up.

Edit: ^ Thats if his PSU is not up to the task of handling a 4850...
