PS2 Component Cable
#1
Recently I realized that my PS2 is collecting dust. I want to give my old games a try and perhaps start over on some of them. Bring back some memories ;(

Anyway, I found out that PS2 also has a Component Cable and I have an HD TV. However, they are not on sale anymore and I have to order one online. So before I do, I was wondering if anyone else has ever used a component cable with a PS2, and if it's worth it. Are the details better or the same?

I never used one, but I don't think it will make any difference because the PS2 isn't HD itself.

I'm not really looking for an HD experience. Just an enhanced picture. I know I could have just Googled it, but I would have preferred to hear from someone that has used it first hand before. As long as it makes a bit of a difference, I'm good 8)

Looks like I'm good.

Well component can carry progressive scan while composite can not. That helps alot for HDTVs. Also component can handle higher resolutions like 720p and even 1080p (in some cases) while composite can only do 480i.
Although, PS2 can only output 720x480. PS3/Xbox360 are a different story

Yeah I know. I'm not really looking for an increase in resolution. Just a nicer picture :9~

As Carcass said there would be a very slight difference in quality, but not much.

Personally I wouldn't waste the money on the cable+shipping just to play old games on an old hardware console for old times sake, could use the money to pay for a handjob from your local corner crackwhore instead.

Maybe if you played the ps2 everyday.  Also, don't you have a ps3?  Aren't they backwards compatable? Also, afaik theres a decent ps2 emulator out there too what will run well on a medium spec PC

Afaik Ps3s can only run PsOne games, not Ps2 games :')

And yeah, I had a cable like that, makes a bit of difference, but not worth the money/effort if you're not gonna play it everyday.
