@Carcass
I don't think it has got anything to do with maturity. People like what they like and that wasn't the issue I was pointing out. If someone thinks Aqua - I'm a Barbie Girl is the best and deepest song ever who am I to say its not? Sure I can argue it is basic manufactured retarded crap but thats looking at it from a technical point of view, not an emotional.
I also don't think age has much to do with it. Of course like everything in life your preferences change as the world does, and of course in the last 15 years or so the amount of music has exploded, the majority of it being manufactured by record companies and corporations to make money but that still doesn't mean there isn't good stuff out there. When I was their age (around 10 I assume based on their english skills) I knew the difference between 'good' and 'bad' music. Nothing wrong with liking and enjoying 'bad' music, hell I have the above Aqua song mentioned in my collection! But I know its place on the music scale of things... and most of all I know what Genre it falls into
Which leads me to my main rant and point of my above comment. It amazes me that the bands posted here where the basis of starting a "Punk Rock - Alternative Rock" thread. I could explain more but its like trying to explain the difference of a plant and an animal to a monkey. In short and in english they would understand its comes down to "Posers living in an imaginary world"
Oh, and In regard to your conern about this thread turning into a flamewar... it would fit in perfectly with the rest of these forums then, but I don't think it will, because usually most of the time when someone posts something you have think about it scares the idiots away because they can't be bothered reading it I thinks. Take bluefox there, who wasn't bothered reading a few lines of text calling it a "wall of text" is probably not going to read this...the reasons why may never be known... but my own opinion is that he simply can't. Some big words and structured sentences would confuse anyone who can't tell the difference between music genres.
And, Sadly the only reason I'm bitching about it is to help them 'learn' If no one pointed this out how are the going to learn or read a perspective that might change their point of view of the basics of if you're going to share the music you like with other people at least tell the truth and don't be luring people into watching your music under the disguise of false genres that have a far better track record and skill level than the manufactored nu metal crap in comparrasion they're passing it off as...
So, with that said I'm going off to listen to some Jazz. And by the 'logic' in this thread that means any song with a saxaphone in it :-/
Totaly metal Sax cover
